CROWNLINE Method, founded by Todd Anthony Person, examines individual birthdays and leverages the 52 playing cards deck to illuminate human relationship chemistry.

The deck of playing cards was originally used as a calendar: there are 52 cards representing the 52 weeks in the year. There are (4) suits representing the four seasons. Hearts representing Spring, Clubs representing Summer, Diamonds representing Fall and Spades representing Winter. Each season has (13) weeks, and each suit has thirteen cards. There are (12) Face cards and there are twelve months and (12) astrological signs. If you add up all the Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds, and Spades with Ace being (1) and King being (13) you get 364. Add December 31st being the day of 1 ¼ and you now get 365 ¼ days which is an entire year.

In this 19th issue of Suited & Connected©, Todd evaluates what we call the ‘Play it Again, Sam’ syndrome, in which an individual subconsciously continues to seek out a partner with either same or very similar birth card/astrological card dynamics to an ex-romantic partner.

Taylor, Joe & Travis: The Boys Have Identical First Cards

Alwyn dated American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, born Dec. 13, 1989, for six years and they broke up in April 2023. He worked with Swift on ten of her songs released from 2020 to 2022, including “Exile” from Swift's eighth studio album, Folklore, which won the Album of the Year at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

After breaking up with Alwyn, Swift started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight-end Travis Kelce, born Oct. 5. Fun factoid: On Sept. 24, 2023, Taylor attended her first Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears. After the Chiefs won the game in a post-game interview, Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid was asked about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce dating, and Reid responded in a joking tone, “I set them up!”

Says Todd, “Unbeknownst to Andy Reid, he and Joe Alwyn have identical birth and astrological cards! Alwyn is the Feb. 21st 4Diamonds/8Diamonds and Andy Reid is the March 19 4Diamonds/8Diamonds.”

But going back to Joe and Travis: If you look at the respective cards of Alwyn and Kelce only the suit in their respective astrological card differ (Diamond versus Heart).

“This is clearly a classic example of human nature where we are drawn from one relationship to the next and there’s a feeling of familiarity and security,” adds Todd.

Tom, Nicole & Nazanin: Ladies Have Identical Cards

Tom Cruise was married to Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001. The two met in 1989 on the sets of Days of Thunder. Nicole Kidman was born on June 20, so her cards are 10Clubs/8Diamonds. Tom was born July 3, and his cards are Queen of Diamonds/Queen of Spades.

After his relationships with Nicole Kidman, and his last girlfriend, Penélope Cruz, had failed because of disagreements in Scientology beliefs — Cruise was in need of a partner who would help promote Scientology. Scientology officials initially matched Tom Cruise with Nazanin Boniadi, an attractive, petite, Iranian-born woman in her mid-20s who had been raised in London and whose mother was also a Scientologist. Boniadi’s birthday, May 22, has her cards being IDENTICAL to Nicole Kidman’s — 10Clubs/8Diamonds.

Tony, Gwen, Erin — Ladies Have Identical Cards

Tony Kanal was born Aug. 27, While most of his early years were spent in London, Kanal and his family briefly lived in Toronto, Canada, then Munster, Indiana. At age 11, his family moved to Anaheim, California.

Gwen Stefani’s emergence into the music spotlight is inextricably linked with her former romantic partner and No Doubt bandmate, Tony Kanal. Gwen was born Oct. 3, her cards being 6Diamonds/10Hearts; Tony was born Aug. 27, his cards being Queen of Hearts/10Clubs.

As members of the band, the two achieved significant success together. However, it was their break-up that would ultimately pave the way for Gwen to find her voice as a solo artist.

Gwen skyrocketed to the level of a celebrity great, with a successful music career, fashion line and a family life. While she continues to conquer the music industry to this day, together with her husband and The Voice co-coach Blake Shelton, it is interesting to note that Tony Kanal went on to marry Erin Lokitz, born May 13, her cards being 6Diamonds/10Hearts — her birth card and astrological card IDENTICAL to Gwen Stefani’s.

Kanye West & His Ladies: A Repetitive Heart Beat

Kanye West’s relationships are about as iconic as his music.

His first known public romance was with his high school sweetheart, Sumeke Rainey, whom he dated until his debut album, The College Dropout, catapulted him into superstardom in 2004. After graduating from up-and-coming rapper and producer to earning a seat at the table of hip-hop royalty in the late 2000s, West and model Amber Rose became something of a power couple during his 808s & Heartbreak (2008) and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) eras.

Above all, the most famous (and infamous) of the leading ladies in West’s life was Kim Kardashian, for whom the Chicago-born artist believed he was destined.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West began dating in 2012, married in 2014, and filed for divorce in 2021 after having four children together.

Just a year before Kanye and Kim began dating, Amber Rose called it quits with Kanye. The cards for Amber, born Oct. 21, are Ace of Clubs/10Spades, and Kim Kardashian, likewise are IDENTICAL — Ace of Clubs/10Spades — as her birthday is Oct. 21, as well.

“Kanye’s relationships with women continued to demonstrate an attraction to the 10 of Spades card,” says Todd. “Although Julia Fox and he only dated for a short time in 2022, we can see Kanye’s attraction to her — her birthday being February 2, her cards are 10Spades/5Spades.

Todd’s Takeaways Re Patterns of Attraction

Being able to identify a person’s birthday from the get-go is a powerful tool as a first step in understanding the strengths and the weaknesses of your relationship with your new romantic partner.
